New Mercies Every Morning

Good morning Sis!

For the last ten days we have been diving deep into our printable on New Beginnings. It has been a task for me to both record and edit a video twice for both YouTube and Instagram, but it has been such a joy for me and many of you going through the scriptures thus far.

Today, I want to focus on the scripture from day four which was on Lamentations 3:22-24 NKJV:

22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. 24 "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I hope in Him!"

This scripture study ripped me apart beautifully. Lamentations is a book I have not personally studied, but I know some of key verses since I've head them as a young girl. Studying this opened up my eyes, so I want to share my key points that I found in studying.

Lamentations is written by the prophet Jeremiah who was called the "weeping prophet". He wrote the book of Lamentations to express his deep suffering about Israel and Jerusalem being destroyed in five poems.

Lamentations teaches us, today, how to:

  1. express grief and survive it.

  2. learn from our failures.

  3. realize that privilege increases responsibility.

  4. know that sin has consequences.

  5. understand the purpose of discipline by/from God.

  6. be discerning about discipline (is it from God or is it suffering from Satan).

  7. responsibility to submit to sufferings patiently.

Jeremiah cried about his suffering and grief to God, but I came to a few realization after reading from verse 21-26 that has changed my view and understanding of suffering.

Our hope needs to be in Jesus!

To restore our hope when we feel it dying we need to first find our hope in Jesus. Once we do, we can then remind ourselves of God's mercies. Our hope only needs to be in Christ. When all else fails, hope in Him won't. When we feel like giving up we just need to remember Christ and all that God has done to restore our dying or failing hope.

What is your hope in?

When you feel like you're losing hope what do you recall to mind to bring it back?

Though we may suffer, we are not consumed by it!

Yes, we will suffer. That's a given! However, there is always a remnant of hope and evidence of God's compassion. No matter what we go through, we will not be overtaken nor at our end because we have faith in Christ! Just take a moment to be filled up by God.

Where do you go to get filled up?

God's mercies and compassion are new EVERY morning to us!

Yes, we deal with life and make mistakes, but each day we have access to new mercy and compassion from God daily. Our Father has endless supply of love, mercy and faithfulness that is never exhausted. He is faithful to restore us!

How has God shown his faithfulness to you?

Make God your satisfaction!

Even in our going through and suffering we need to understand that our satisfaction needs to be in God and Him alone. Everything we have need of He provides. Everything is found in Him. Jeremiah was satisfied in God so he had hope even when he felt himself becoming hopeless.

What satisfies you? Is anything or anyone blocking your hope in god?

I encourage you to read all of Lamentations 3 and even watch the video for more of my revelations from my study of the Word:
